The partnership will enable Jubilee
Insurance to consolidate its position as the market leader in both domestic and
international medical insurance provider both in Kenya and the region.
East
Africa’s largest insurance group, Jubilee Insurance and Bupa International, the
leading international healthcare company, today launched a strategic
partnership which brings together Jubilee’s local knowledge with Bupa’s global
healthcare expertise.
The partnership will target the growing number of top-level
executives, the high-end market segment and expatriates living in the region
given Kenya’s position as a regional economic hub for international business
and human resource capital.
Patrick
Tumbo, CEO of Jubilee Kenya, said: “The partnership will offer Jubilee
customers access to an expansive range of international medical health-care
services through a health insurer they can rely upon to provide comprehensive
benefits together with high quality service. The partnership will also enable the company to
consolidate its position as the market leader in both domestic and
international medical insurance provider both in Kenya and the East Africa
region.”
Mr.
Tumbo also added that Jubilee customers will be able to be treated in any one
of Bupa International’s network of over 7,500 independent participating
hospitals and clinics worldwide, or in any recognized hospital or clinic of
their choice.
Under
the partnership, Jubilee Insurance will provide Bupa’s international healthcare
policies in the market alongside its existing products through a selection of
its distribution channel of brokers, agents and on a direct basis.
Some of the international healthcare policies the company will
roll-out in the market include family, small company and corporate medical
plans. Additional benefits,
such as evacuation and repatriation options, will be available so customers who
can access the most appropriate treatment, wherever they are in the world.
Wayne
Close, Managing Director at Bupa International, said: “We are delighted to be
working with Jubilee. This partnership will enable us to deliver a tailored
service for customers, providing a blend of local knowledge and international
know-how. It further demonstrates our commitment to the region, and providing
people in Kenya with access to high quality healthcare.”
Nizar Juma, Chairman
of Jubilee Holdings, said: “At Jubilee Insurance, we are constantly increasing
our product offering portfolio to cater for and provide a “one-stop” shop for
medical insurance provision in the market whether they are individuals,
families or major corporates. We chose to partner with Bupa
International because of its more than 40 years’ experience in international
medical cover, over 500,000 expatriate customers in 190 countries and
established relations with thousands of modern medical facilities worldwide”.
The strategic partnership by the two insurers has received the
mandatory authorisation from
Kenya’s Insurance Industry regulator, the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA).
