DHL Express Kenya has been
awarded the globally acclaimed international benchmark certification for
security by the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA).
This is the second time the Kenyan company has clinched the
internationally recognized certification having first achieved it in December
2007. DHL Express Kenya is currently the only certified industry player in East
Africa.
The certification recognizes the company’s advanced security
systems and measures for cargo in transit within its network. The security and
protection of goods is a major concern and priority to customers shipping
internationally, as well as to the express and logistics industry as a whole.
The certification is another feather in the cap of the award
winning company and is extremely relevant for high value shipments.
“The re-certification by TAPA is yet another vote of confidence in
our services. We are delighted to be recognized by such a globally respected
industry organization,” said DHL Express, Kenya Country Manager Alan Cassels.
TAPA’s
security requirements for certification are recognized globally as the industry
standard for cargo facility and transport security. The Association’s Incident
Information Service (IIS) constantly captures and shares data, enabling industry
players to use the latest cargo crime intelligence to avoid incident
‘hotspots’, protect goods in transit and, if required, to report and trace
stolen property.
The
association also regularly consults at the highest level of relevant government
departments and with law enforcement agencies to support the requirements of
its members in their campaign to reduce crime.
Cargo crime is one of the biggest supply chain challenges for
manufacturers of high value / high risk products.
“Today, organized crime rings are operating globally. TAPA creates
a platform to help businesses fight back against cargo crime by means of
real-time intelligence and the latest preventative security measures to protect
goods in the supply chain,” Said Cassels.
