LG Electronics plans to substantially increase its mid-level market with the
launch of the C333 Triple-Sim handset into the Kenya and regional market.
The
handset which is part of the company’s C-Series that also includes the stylish
C195 and the Golf C365 is part of the LG Electronics’ onslaught for a bigger
stake in the fast growing mobile phone market coming against the backdrop of
the launch of a number of smartphone handsets targeting the high and middle
segment of the market.
Of
particular interest is the handsets’ capacity to hold up to three sim-cards
which remain in use simultaneously. This will especially appeal to the young
generation most of whom carry more than one sim-card and keep switching between
the networks for the best offers.
“Our
products in the mobile phone portfolio have struck a very positive chord with
the market. Our innovation team is therefore looking at products that will
satisfy every segment of the market with cost not being a hindrance,” said LG
Electronics Managing Director for East and Central Africa Mr Josep Kim.
The
new range of handsets will especially resonate with the youth market who fancy
internet powered social networking sites as the phones come with pre-installed
easy to navigate features such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus among others.
The handsets also come with an ‘easy-to-type’ QWERTY key board for ease of
texting and chatting.
“This
range of handsets will mostly target the 16-24 age brackets which are mostly
fashionist, heavy on texting, socially active and flashy in colour. Its QWERTY
keyboard makes texting a wonderful experience,” said Mr. Kim.
Another
major selling point for the handset is its long battery life. This will
especially come in handy in a market where most handsets cannot sustain power
for long. Users can also be alerted of missed calls or unread messages through
an LED light that blinks.
The
company has lined up and number of cutting-edge products in the mobile phone
market in its drive to maintain and grow its growing presence in the regional
and global market.
The
phone will retail at a market entry price of Kshs 6,000 and is available in
most leading outlets across the country and the east African region.
